Norton AMC Gearbox Selector Fork Pin – Part Number 040038
This is the correct gearbox selector fork roll pin (part number 040038) for Norton Commando and classic Norton twin models fitted with the AMC gearbox. This small but essential pin locates and retains the gearbox selector fork assembly inside the gearbox shell. Without it in place, selector fork movement becomes uncontrolled, resulting in the inability to select gears or jumping out of gear under load.
The Norton AMC gearbox selector fork pin 040038 is frequently lost during gearbox disassembly if not carefully retained. It should be replaced any time the gearbox is opened for service. Always inspect these pins for wear or deformation before reassembly – a worn or bent pin is a common cause of gearbox problems that are often misdiagnosed as damaged gears.
This pin fits the AMC gearbox as used on Norton Commando 750 and 850, Norton Dominator, and other Norton twin models from the late 1950s through 1977. Sold individually. An inexpensive part that is worth having on the shelf before any gearbox service.
