Norton Commando MK3 850 belt drive kit (no clutch) — Norvil part 069444 — is the correct primary belt drive conversion specifically engineered for the 1975 Norton Commando MK3 850 with electric start. This version does not include the clutch assembly, making it ideal when your existing clutch components are in serviceable condition.
Important: This kit is designed exclusively for the 1975 MK3 Commando with the electric start sprag bearing on the crankshaft. It is NOT compatible with pre-MK3 (non-electric-start) Commandos — for those models, see part 069218A. Running a MK3 without oil in the primary chaincase is not recommended due to the sprag bearing requirement.
Kit includes: Front pulley (HE30 dural aluminium), 30mm toothed belt, pulley plates, sealed clutch bearing, and full fitting instructions. The sealed bearing allows the primary drive to run dry (note MK3 sprag bearing lubrication considerations apply).
